“R Drifting Docs Jess” aka Jessie, is a 5 year old, well-bred and registered AQHA mare with a puppy-dog-type personality and a love for trail riding. Jessie is sensational on the trail; she will lead or follow, can pony or be ponied, crosses water, ditches, bridges, etc., and likes to hop over little logs and other jumps. Jessie has really comfortable gaits and will trot and canter on the trail with a loop in the rein, but she is also happy to stroll along as slowly as the group wants to go. Her ears stay up and happy, her body is relaxed, she is careful with her feet, and is pretty much everything you want to feel and see in a trail horse! Jessie has never offered to kick, doesn’t care about dogs, is not spooky and has been introduced to foxhunting, which I believe would be an ideal career choice for her.

Jessie has a lot of potential as a hunter, dressage or event partner, but she does not currently enjoy working in the ring nearly as much as in the great out of doors. She knows the basics but can get tense and needs a rider who can float the rein to her and has the patience to keep quietly building her confidence. Jessie has been started over fences and likes to jump–she has only done cross rails and 2′ verticals so far, but looks like she’s going to have a pretty snappy front end.

Jessie is completely sound with no maintenance, and is not taking any supplements or drugs for mare-ish behavior. She tends to be dominate in turnout but not abusive, and is quiet in a stall but seems to prefer turnout. Jessie is an easy keeper with good feet and no history of colic, skin, allergy or vision problems, and no vices at all.

Jessie loads great, travels quietly, ties to the trailer, and is good for the vet and farrier. She will make a great partner for a trail riding enthusiast, or an experienced amateur who wants to bring along a quality, versatile project horse–no reason she couldn’t chase points on the AQHA circuit AND chase foxes in the hunt field. A perfect home is her owner’s priority; come out and meet Jessie soon!
