Lucia’s dam, O’Bear, an imported tri-colored Irish Sport Horse

“Lucia” is a stunning, tri-colored, Irish Sporthorse/TB cross filly, homebred and raised by a veterinarian, currently in a professional-quality training program at one of our partner farms in Bedford, Virginia. She is out of an imported Irish Sport Horse mare, by a fabulous Thoroughbred stallion named Compliance Copy, who has a well-earned reputation for throwing babies with outstanding temperaments. Both parents live on the farm.

Lucia is 4 years old and 15 hands tall with unique markings and fancy, flat-kneed, sweeping movement. She is “game for anything,” according to her trainer, and is particularly fabulous to hack out and go cross-country. She is schooling beginner novice-size cross-country fences, cantering small jumps in the ring and has competed in the tadpole division in some local events.

Lucia LOVES to trail ride and will lead, follow, hacks out alone, crosses water, ditches, and little banks. She is showing tons of potential as a field hunter; she has gone hound walking and was excellent around hounds, and has been to a hunter pace, where she was totally unfazed by other horses coming and going.

Lucia can be loaded by one person and travels quietly–she is easy to handle off the farm and very sensible and matter-of-fact about new places and experiences. Lovely to work with on the ground, can live out, not spooky, mare-ish or reactive. She is currently barefoot and is an easy keeper with no vices, no history of colic, founder or unsoundness, no injuries, and no allergy/skin/vision problems.

Lucia is a lovely little lady who is a wonderful project for any discipline–fancy enough mover to be competitive in any hunter class, but shows real aptitude for hunting, dressage and eventing also. She is still green, but not naughty, very straightforward to ride. Her amateur-friendly disposition and quality movement are hard to find–come meet her and see for yourself!
